Abbreviations
Use abbreviations when they help the reader rather than merely saving keystrokes. Spell out an unfamiliar term when first introducing its abbreviation, then use the abbreviation consistently.
Example: evidence-based practice (EBP). Avoid introducing an abbreviation that appears only once or twice. Familiar abbreviations and measurement units may follow different conventions; consult the official guidance for your case.
