Read and cite the original work whenever possible. If you can only access an author’s work through another source, identify the original author and use “as cited in” to name the source you actually read.
Illustrative citation: (Rivera, 1998, as cited in Chen, 2024). Include only the source you read—Chen in this example—in your reference list. Include the original year if it is known.
