Italics and quotation marks
In references, italicize titles of stand-alone works such as books and webpages. For journal articles, italicize the journal title and volume rather than the article title.
In running text, formatting depends on whether a title belongs to a stand-alone work or a part of a larger work. Consult the official examples before extending a reference-list rule to a title mentioned in a sentence. Avoid italics merely for emphasis.
