Punctuation
Use one space after a sentence-ending period. Use the serial comma in a series of three or more items, and check punctuation around quotations and parenthetical citations.
Proofread long sentences for comma splices. Read your paragraph aloud, then check whether punctuation clarifies the relationship among its ideas. Consult APA’s topic-specific examples for colons, semicolons, dashes, and parentheses.
