The Mean

Now, let's calculate the mean for our data. Click on cell B11 beside Mean and then click on the white bar near the top that is used for editing. Type in =Average(B5:B9) We could use the AutoSum feature but would need to ensure that the Maximum cell number is not part of the calculation. This will be included by default.

Next, move your mouse until you see the fill handle and while holding down the left mouse button, scroll horizontally across to highlight C11 and D11. The Mean equation will automatically be set for the corresponding columns as shown in Image Two.
