A workbook is an Excel file; each worksheet contains rows and columns. Column letters and row numbers identify a cell: B5 is column B, row 5. A range such as B5:B9 includes five cells.

  1. Open the practice workbook and select Sheet1.
  2. Select B5. Look at its address in the Name Box and its value in the formula bar.
  3. Select B5:B9 by dragging, or type B5:B9 into the Name Box and press Enter.

The practice workbook keeps labels in column A and scores in columns B–D.
